Welcome to the Design Festa Gallery!

Today, the Design Festa Gallery was granted the amazing honor of receiving nearly a dozen individuals representing nine different countries who took time out of their impossibly busy schedules as foreign embassy attaché, official secretaries and cultural affairs counselors to visit us!

It was a fantastically enjoyable and priceless opportunity to meet with officials from Angola, Burkina Faso, Thailand, Madagascar, Syria, Tunisia, Botswana and Cuba, and we hope it was as pleasant an experience for them as it was an invaluable afternoon for us.

The event began at 11am with a tour of the Design Festa Gallery West and East buildings!

Untold numbers of business cards were exchanged, countless introductions were made and an unforeseen number of new contacts were made amongst each and every attendee.

We are all extremely grateful for the immense patience of the embassy representatives, who ventured through nearly every room on the West building's first and second floors, greeting today's surprised but delighted artists!

Today's gathering just happened to overlap with the Otto Wagner exhibition in the second-largest show room in the West building, which was a delightful coincidence that I am going to pretend we planned on purpose.

After invading the West building it was time to visit the East, and what a brilliant surprise was lying in wait for everyone there: official exhibition of the Embassy of Burkian Faso!

After our exceedingly patient and gracious guests concluded the tour of the two gallery buildings, it was time for a visit to the second floor of Sakura Tei Restaurant where we typically host our Cuisine Workshop events, and the adventurous experience that is okonomiyaki!

It was very fortunate that our guests were so extremely kind and understanding, because once we arrived in Sakura Tei I made them wait, yet again, and listen to me talk.
But then, it was on to the main event!

It was a never-before-heard-of experience for the majority of--if not all--the delightfully adventurous embassy representatives, and we can only hope that the event that is the preparing of okonomiyaki was as enjoyable for our guests as it was new.

We even had the honor of being joined by artist Claver YAMEOGO, seen here with gallery staff member Kozue, speaking in one of the at least three languages they both know!

The adventure didn't end with okonomiyaki, continuing on with sobameshi, and then...

...whatever this delicious dessert is called!

At the end of the day, there was so much gratitude felt on behalf of the Design Festa Gallery and Sakura Tei Restaurant that we can never, ever hope to properly express.

We wish to thank each and every one of the embassy representatives for the investment of their time, the amazing kindness they showed us and, above all, their sense of adventure!

From each and every one of us here at Design Festa Gallery:

Thank you so, so much!
