You don't have to look twice for it to strike you that there is something particularly unique--curiously, intriguingly and pleasantly different--about Koya Kawai's exhibition.
まず、この名古屋市生まれのアーティストさんは５年間米国、４年間英国に住んだことあります。そして、今迄様々な表現を試していますが、そのどれもが素晴らしい作品となっています！
It begins with the fact that the Nagoya-born artist has lived almost half his life in the U.S. and England, and continues with how there is practically no medium of art which he has not attempted and subsequently excelled at.
素敵なところが多過ぎて、書き尽くせません！

入ってすぐの絵を見てアーティストさんに
「全部がデジタルアートですか？」
と聞きましたが、中へ入って行くとそうではないと分かります。
While photographing the artist's exhibition space, I asked if all of the work on display was digital manipulation, but from walking into the room alone it is easy enough to tell that it certainly is not.
デジタルやコラージュ作品は彼の強みの一つですが、はっきり言って何でもできます。
デジタルだけではなくアナログ写真や油絵、ドローイング、グラフィックデザイン、どれを取っても全部素晴らしいです。
While digital painting and collages are certainly a strength, the artist appears to be a legitimate jack-of-all-trades, with equally amazing digital/manual photography, oil paintings, graphite illustrations and graphic design.
個人的には、多岐に渡る表現方法もすごいと思いますが、モチーフの広さも好きです。
I am personally a fan of both the endless variety of ways the artist's work takes shape, but also the constantly evolving subject matter.
荒波に揉まれた船やフルーツタルト、不気味なスタイルの頭蓋骨が一緒の場所に展示されていると、なんとも言えない気持ちになります。
媒体を取ってもモチーフを取っても、バラエティーに富んでいますが、共通項を挙げるとすればどれもスキルが高いです。
From a sea-ravaged sailing craft to a fruit tart to eerily stylized skulls, it's exceedingly difficult to summarize or generalize the impression that is left on you after attending artist Koya Kawai's exhibition. There is so much variety everywhere and in everything that the only constant factor is the high degree of skill.
この壁一面に広がった絵が、私の一番好きな絵かな？
ただし、河合さんの作品の中での1番を選ぶ事は
メロンパンとアップルパイのどちらかを選ぶ事と似ています。
どっちも違うけれど、どっちも素晴らしい♪
Taking up an entire wall all to itself, this piece might be my favorite.
But trying to choose a favorite among Koya Kawai's work is like choosing between strawberry pie and melon bread: so dramatically different from one another, and so delightful in their own ways ♪
POCHI POCHI GALLERYの展示が今日だけだなんて、
とっても残念です。
With so many inexpressibly delightful things on display it is the great shame of the world that the POCHI POCHI GALLERY exhibition will last only until today.
