Photography Club presents : Memories of Summer
この写真展示に私はワクワクしていました。
なぜかというと、日本の４つの季節の夏と私が住んでいた南カリフォルニア ゼロの季節の
夏のイメージを比べたかったからです。
日本大学生産工学部津田沼写真部の展示のおかげで、それが可能になりました。
それでは、作品/展示を見てみましょう！
I was excited about this exhibition, as I get the chance to compare the imagery associated with a Japanese summer with that of summer in Southern California.
And it is all thanks to the Japan University of Industrial Technology Tsudanuma Photography Club! Let's go!
まずは素敵なひまわりの写真をご紹介します。
日本語の「ひまわり」という単語が特に好きです。メッチャ可愛いです。
太陽の後ろに続いている "ひまわり"
ポイント／カリフォルニアは日本ほど、ひまわりは咲いていません。
And we're off to a strong start with this gorgeous photograph of a sunflower!
I've always liked the Japanese word for "sunflower", which kind of means "following after the sun".
This one is certainly doing so.
California comparison: We don't have sunflowers, so, point: Japan.
池 • 学校からの眺め • 太鼓の音を聞いている浴衣着ているの子ども達。
池の写真の雰囲気が平和で、好きです。
学校の写真を見ていると、雲を動かしている風の存在を感じられます。
フレームに入れて、家に置きたいです。
浴衣の写真を見ると、「一緒にいる」という気持ちになります。すごいすごい♪
ポイント／ご紹介した写真のような池はカリフォルニアでは見たことがないです。
また、日本スタイルの学校や浴衣は全くありません。
A pond, the view from a school window and children in yukatas listening to taiko music.
I love the peaceful feeling of the pond picture.
You look at the school picture and you can almost feel the wind that moves the clouds.
I want that one framed in my house.
You look at the yukata picture and it feels like you're right there with the girls.
California comparison: I've never seen a pond exactly like this before, and there aren't any Japanese-style schools or yukatas, so, point: Japan.
この写真大好き。ブログのカバーで使おうか迷ってしまいました。
構図や色、気持ちがすごくいい。
この写真が本のカバーだったなら、絶対読みたい。
ポイント／カリフォルニアはビーチが名物なんですが、波も大きく、人々が多く。
このような写真を撮ることは難しい。
I love this one. I wanted to make it the cover picture of the blog, but then I didn't.
It has great atmosphere and emotion.
If this were the cover of a book, I would totally want to read it.
California comparison: California is famous for its beaches, but there are a lot of waves and a lot of people, so I don't know if you'd be able to take a picture like this there. Point: California and Japan.
これはいいコラージュですね。
間違い無いテーマ選び。
蕎麦やお花、団扇があると、それもう絶対日本の夏を示す。
ポイント／蕎麦や団扇は日本独自の物です。また天候が近しい所には、似たようなお花が咲きます。
なので、気候が近しい場所同士だと差異があまりありません。
A great collage.
See this series of images altogether and there is no mistaking what the theme is.
Soba, flowers and fans are all unmistakably from a Japanese summer.
California comparison: The soba and the fans are pure Japan, and in places that the weather doesn't really change the flowers don't really change either, so...point: Japan.
家族連れ立って一緒に散歩している写真。
この写真の雰囲気がすごく好きで、部屋に入って行ってからすぐにこの一枚を見に行きました。
ポイント／カリフォルニアに比べて…特に変化はありません。
でも、私は学校の写真と一緒にこの写真もフレームに入れて持ち帰りたいです。
A family on a walk.
I love the feel of this picture, and went straight to it when I walked into the room.
California comparison: none to be had. I want this one in a frame with the school picture to take home.
Point: Japan.
いいですね、お祭り雰囲気の焼き鳥屋さんと．．．
ギャラリースタッフ梢先輩も作品を拝見していました。
ポイント／カリフォルニアには、お祭り、焼き鳥、原宿のようにロリータさんもいません。
結果：この夏の思い出展は日本６点、カリフォルニア１点！
２０２０年のオリンピックは今日のブログのように出来れば、日本一です！

California comparison: There are no festivals or yakitori, or any lolita like what you'll find in Harajuku, so...
Point: Japan.
Results: This summer memories exhibition has six Japanese points and one California point!
If the 2020 Olympics go anything like this, Japan has got it in the bag. Fufufu~
