今日は、初めて中国結びの美しさを発見しました。
それはEast館102のグループ展で見ることが出来ます。
Today I discovered the beauty of Chinese knotwork for the first time.
Showroom East 102 is now hosting the best introduction to the art you could hope for.
遠くから見て「へ〜、これはいいですね」と思っていた作品
形や色は両方とも良い。もっと近くで見てみましょう。。。
Seeing them first from afar, I thought, "These are nice".
They both have nice general shapes and nice colors. And then, looking closer...
細かい！！細かい！！
どのようにして人間の手がここまでの
結びのアート作品を作るコトが出来るのでしょうか！？
グループメンバーの１人、平岡さんにお話訊くと、
この紅やピンクのデザインは８０メートル以上の糸で作ったとのこと。
That is so much detail! Look at how detailed these are!
How can such precise work be created by human hands?!
After approaching a member of the group of artists, I learned that this maroon and pink piece was created using over 80 meters of specially treated string.
グループメンバーの平岡さんが作品に写っています。
「超時間がかかりますよ！１番小さいな物は３時間から５時間までかかります。
１番難しい部分は、デザインです。」
その言葉は絶対に信じられます。
And here is that group member!
One of six people who all contributed their work to this exhibition, she explained to me,
"They take so long to make! The smallest one we have took between three and five hours. And the most difficult part is designing them."
I definitely believe her.
複雑さや単純を組み合わせているデザインが最高です。
色だけでも変わると雰囲気がまったく違ってきますが、どれも美しい。
次に、この華やかな鏡のリフレクションを見てみてください。
The combinations of complexity and simplicity are top notch.
The entire feel one of these pieces warps completely by a mere change in color,
but they are always, unfailingly beautiful.
If we follow the reflection of this stunning mirror, we find...
「可愛いじゃないですか！リボンやお花のモチーフかな？いいね〜」
そして、近くで見ると。。。
One more time:
"This is pretty cute! Those are ribbons and little flowers, right?"
And then, a closer look, and...
すっ、すごいです！
ペンでも紙でも想像力でも出来ない美しさです！
この日本人アーティストが作った作品は、
大変制作難易度の高い作品であることは間違いないでしょう。
とても美しい中国独自の美術作品です。
Whhhooa!
Beauty I can't recreate by pen or paper, or even in my head!
I can't decide what's more impressive about these pieces of Chinese art by these Japanese artists:
the difficulty, or the uniqueness.
糸の使い方だけではなくて、
デコレーションの使い方もマッチしています。
写真より、現物の方が素晴らしいとお約束致します。
And not only their use of the specially treated and stiffened string,
but even their application of decoration is spot on.
I promise it is far more impressive in person than in the picture.
結華～中国結びの会～ 様の作品が飾られたスペースは、
何も作品が飾られていない状態に比べて２０倍以上は美しくなったと思います。
そして、これらの作品以外にもご紹介したいものがあります。
And this exhibition consists of more than
that which can make any wall twenty times more beautiful.
台湾のアーティスト達とコラボレーションした平岡さんの作品が
中国結びの本に掲載されています。
そろそろ皆さん、興味が出て来たのではないでしょうか？

The artist hosting today's exhibition is even featured in a book of knotwork art,
created in collaboration with a collection of Taiwanese artsits!
It would be a shame for anyone interested to miss it,
and I can't imagine anyone not being interested.
