A super exciting thing happened here on Saturday, with one of the most varied, intriguing and fascinating university exhibitions ever happening within exhibition rooms 101-a and 102 courtesy of five students of Temple University's Japan Campus.
It's truly unfortunate that the exhibition has already concluded, because with 100% certainly viewing the following report will have you regretting what you missed, or wishing to visit in person a second time if you caught it.
Behold the impressive displays of work by Temple University students Sei Violette, Alisha Scales, Kohei Okawa, Aya Fujikawa and Enkhzul Batjargal~!
Walking into 101-a introduced you directly to the beautiful art of student Alisha Scales:
I love in particular the combination of the sheer size of her canvases and the sense of texture she is able to produce from brush strokes alone, to say nothing of her ability to bring out the absolute best of what oil paint is capable of.

Each of the three oil on canvas works she has on display are from this year, and each prove her talents at stopping observers dead in their tracks. There is no such thing as merely looking over a piece by Alisha Scales as each grabs you, seizes your attention and provokes you into thought ♡

Another up-and-coming young talent of Temple University, Japan is artist Sei Violette:
Photoshop?
I am particularly fond of her work because it is all but impossible to tell at first glance what medium it is that she utilizes so flawlessly. Oil paint? Photoshop? The substance dreams are made of?

The answer is largely a combination of oil paint, acrylic paint and an expert application of rhinestones, but even with that knowledge you could swear artist Sei Violette (more to see on her Facebook page) has unlocked some secret of artistic expression and redefined mixed-media as a whole ♡
Continuing around the exhibition room will bring you to the stunning work of student Aya Fujikawa, and good luck ever tearing your eyes away:
What strikes you first and strikes you strong at your initial glance over artist Aya Fujikawa's exhibition is emotion. Beyond the beautifully illustrated subject of the work itself is an entire untold story, reaching out to you through the beautiful balance, color and texture of the work that reaches out and draws you in covertly, but without mercy.
Aya Fujikawa's work portrays just enough to fascinate you, but no where near enough to satisfy your curiosity and always leaving you wishing you could know and could see more. I cannot get over my love of her use of color ♡
Moving on from the awe-inspiring accomplishments of these Temple University's students with oil paint on canvas we are met with Kohei Okawa's fantastic photography:
Each and every shot is marked "Untitled", photographer Kohei Okawa allowing each of his beautiful, expertly captured photographs to speak for themselves and, subsequently, leave the viewer speechless.
Expert photography is possibly the most difficult things on earth to photograph, making Kohei Okawa's work in particular something you should certainly never miss should you have the fortunate opportunity to see it in person ♡
Moving onto room 102 visitors are met with an extension of exhibition "Mitosis"'s photographic half, spear-headed by the return of multi-talented artist Sei Violette:
There are clearly countless wonders to do with the magic of photography that artist Sei Violette has already mastered, but the most obvious and perhaps most delightful is her fantastic understanding and subsequent manipulation of color.
Color and shape strike you together as an abstract concept independent of the objects projecting them, first and foremost, allowing you to absorb and interpret what your eyes perceive only after the wordless expression of her work that hits you first.
And, as if student Sei Violette's fantastic artistic strengths were not difficult enough to properly portray via photos of photos, last of exhibition "Mitosis" comes photographer Enkhzul Batjargal's photographic series, "The Dream Paralysis".
It is all but impossible to properly put across the beauty and intrigue, the sheer amount of time you must spend viewing and contemplating the achievements of student Enkhzul Batjargal in photographs and words alone.
Viewing each image individually takes significantly away from the strength of the impression of the exhibition as a whole, so hopefully photographer Enkhzul Batjargal returns for another display of her awe-inspiring photographic capabilities to give those who missed the opportunity this time another chance to enjoy it to its fullest♡
A big, big thank you to each and every Temple University student who took the time to put their exceedingly impressive talents on display with us, and we look forward to seeing the doubtlessly amazing work they are certain to achieve in the near future!
