Cultural Experiences Through
Food: Serbia
While showroom 101-b hosts an
exhibition arranged by the embassy of Serbia, today Sakura-Tei Restaurant
hosted a Serbian cuisine workshop.
It began with a presentation
to give everyone a basic understanding of the country from which the food we
were about to prepare came from.
Serbian Embassy vice-consul
Nemanja GRBIC and embassy secretary Tijana NAGATO were our lecturers, and
both presented in traditional Serbian costume! They welcomed the bombardment of
picture-taking visitors and were extremely kind.
Then it was on to the
workshop with the crafting of authentic Serbian cuisine.
Our challenge was sopska salata, a Serbian salad, meatloaf known as pljeskavice, cornbread
called proja and crepes (palacinke), concluding with a Serbian wine tasting.
We had to form a waiting list
after receiving a surge of enthusiastic applicants, and, as you can see,
participants were thrilled with the experience!
A big thank you to event
sponsors: the NPO’s International Artists Center and the Serbian Embassy in
